British pop star Lily Allen has topped the blogosphere this week over posts made to her anti-piracy blog “It’s Not Alright”. The singer came out in favor of proposed UK legislation that would cut off the Internet connections of those found to be downloading copyrighted material three times. However, it was found that one of her posts had been copied in part from the Techdirt blog , creating an obvious irony

Washington Post Launches Comedy Web Series Based on Celebrity Tweets

NewTeeVee turned us on to an entertaining new web series produced by — of all sources — The Washington Post. The new series features 2-minute long episodes with comedically un-profound tweets from celebrities, but staged to a visual representation of a deep and thoughtful dramatic reading.

CONFIRMED: Justin Timberlake Cast in Movie About Facebook

Although these casting rumors have been floating around for several weeks, Variety confirms that the core cast for the upcoming David Fincher film, “The Social Network” (AKA, “The Facebook Movie” ) has been set. Jesse Eisenberg will play Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Justin Timberlake will play Napster co-founder Sean Parker, and Andrew Garfield will play Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder who had a falling out with Zuckerberg as the social site started to really take off. Production for the film will start in October in Los Angeles and in Boston.

Facebook launched its ad platform “Beacon” in November 2007, hoping to revolutionize advertising by posting updates to your Facebook profile when you interacted with its partner sites. This week Facebook said that it has settled a class-action lawsuit against the product, agreed to shut it down completely, and will establish a $9.5 million “settlement fund” to fund initiatives related to online privacy
